Humans pay enormous attention to lips during conversation, and robots have struggled badly to keep up. A new robot developed at Columbia Engineering learned realistic lip movements by watching its own reflection and studying human videos online. This allowed it to speak and sing with synchronized facial motion, without being explicitly programmed. Researchers believe this breakthrough could help robots finally cross the uncanny valley. Look at me. So that you can see what I say.

Pay attention to my lips.

I do not smile even though I say you are funny.

Look at my face.

I do love you, despite of what I do.

The soul always finds a way to show itself. Either through actions or in a smile. Despite all the barriers we build around it. The inner self dominates. All one has to do is be transparent enough for the others to see. Be obscure and the inner self will stay hidden. But in the shadows it will grow even stronger. And with one way or another, it will burst out to show who was in charge. And even if you manage to keep everything hidden till you die, your life will be the best testament of who you were even without you knowing why.

Look at me. Pay attention to what I do.

But you should care not at all. Because your purpose in life is to be you. So that we can both walk and die. As two different people. Not knowing each other. True to the only thing that makes us Be. That tree under which we played as kids.

The sea. The winter breeze.

All those things that mean nothing without that smile that we tried to hide...
